Concept Note
This project reflects the idea that food is not merely a source of sustenance, but an integral part of culture, identity, and well-being. It goes beyond nutrition to evoke emotions, foster connections, and bring people together. The creator has always felt a deeper bond with food, one rooted in childhood nostalgia rather than physical need alone.
While working on this photo essay, she sought to explore the meaning of food in other people’s lives. As she walked through the lanes of the city, she realised how central food is to everyday human experience, from sharing tiffin boxes to earning a livelihood through cooking. Food takes on a unique identity in each individual’s life. Through this photo essay, she aims to highlight the significance food holds in human lives, extending far beyond nourishment alone.
Artist Bio
Sidra Aslam comes from a media background. While exploring the lanes of Delhi, she developed an interest in photography and in capturing stories through her lens. She later pursued a diploma in Still Photography and Visual Communication and is currently continuing her education in Animation and Visual Effects.
